Fruit infused water.

Nutrition has become something very important to me. I have always been very passionate about good, home cooked meals from local sources, but it is only this past year I have discovered what it means to really give your body nutrition and the benefits you will receive from doing so. I feel as though having a diet based around large amount of vegetable, seeds, nuts, whole grains, an occasional pieces of responsibly sourced fish and no refined sugars, no artificial drinks, no processed foods has not only improved the way I feel, but the way I look. I say all this because I think it is very important to drink a lot of water and you will see and feel the benefits of doing so. I have already talked about making your own tea but in these hot summer months sometimes something a little cooler is needed. It can be tricky drinking 1.5-2 Litres of water a day, but since I started doing so this year I have seen such drastic improvements in my skin. At first it was tough but soon my body adjusted and now I feel I become thirsty if I do not drink that amount.

I am sure you already know about infused water, but I thought I would share some photographs and combinations that I enjoy. To make infused water, simply cut up slices of fruit and place in a jug of water for several hours. There is no need to crush the fruit as the water will pick up the flavour on its own. They are refreshing in the morning when you wake, or just sat outside on a sunny afternoon. The benefit to making your own, rather than store bought means there are no artificial flavourings or additives, no chemical sweeteners and no refined sugar.

My favourites include:
Mint, cucumber & Lime
Melon & mint
Orange, Blueberries & Strawberries

Of course you can use all sorts of fruits - citrus works well, also certain vegetables such as peppers or even fresh herbs.
